GOOGLE'S INTERVIEW QUESTIONS 4 U !!

recently i had seen a AD regarding opening in Google inc . and i did apply too :)

but yet no reply till now, still i just thought how would be the interview procedure in this IT Giant, internet giant, Google?? so i started reading all experiences and now i am here with few impressive questions. See if you can answer them. Many are open ended with several right answers, therefore I did not provide the answers.

TRY 2 ANSWER THESE !! AND ONE MORE THING - "u wont find solutions for these even if u search in GOOGLE " (i've tried !!)

1. How many golf balls can fit in a school bus?

2. You are shrunk to the height of a nickel and your mass is proportionally reduced so as to maintain your original density. You are then thrown into an empty glass blender. The blades will start moving in 60 seconds. What do you do?

3. How much should you charge to wash all the windows in Bangalore?

4. How would you find out if a machine’s stack grows up or down in memory?

5. Explain a database in three sentences to your eight-year-old nephew.

6. How many times a day does a clock’s hands overlap?

7. You have to get from point A to point B. You don’t know if you can get there. What would you do?

8. Imagine you have a closet full of shirts. It’s very hard to find a shirt. So what can you do to organize your shirts for easy retrieval?

9. Every man in a village of 100 married couples has cheated on his wife. Every wife in the village instantly knows when a man other than her husband has cheated, but does not know when her own husband has. The village has a law that does not allow for adultery. Any wife who can prove that her husband is unfaithful must kill him that very day. The women of the village would never disobey this law. One day, the queen of the village visits and announces that at least one husband has been unfaithful. What happens?

10. In a country in which people only want boys, every family continues to have children until they have a boy. if they have a girl, they have another child. if they have a boy, they stop. what is the proportion of boys to girls in the country?

11. If the probability of observing a car in 30 minutes on a highway is 0.95, what is the probability of observing a car in 10 minutes (assuming constant default probability)?

12. If you look at a clock and the time is 3:15, what is the angle between the hour and the minute hands? (The answer to this is not zero!)

13. You are at a party with a friend and 10 people are present including you and the friend. your friend makes you a wager that for every person you find that has the same birthday as you, you get 10 rupee; for every person he finds that does not have the same birthday as you, he gets 20 rupee. would you accept the wager?

14. How many piano tuners are there in the entire world?

15. You have eight balls all of the same size. 7 of them weigh the same, and one of them weighs slightly more. How can you find the ball that is heavier by using a balance and only two weighings?

16. You have five pirates, ranked from 5 to 1 in descending order. The top pirate has the right to propose how 100 gold coins should be divided among them. But the others get to vote on his plan, and if fewer than half agree with him, he gets killed. How should he allocate the gold in order to maximize his share but live to enjoy it? (Hint: One pirate ends up with 98 percent of the gold.)

Do you still think you have what it takes to work for Google?

if yes go for it, if no search other jobs using google !!!

TOP 10 Tips for Concentration and Memory

wats use studying without concentration or memory ?? in allocating memory for academics i always remember 1 guy (saggy) who used 2 remembr like he had a 1gb card in his head !!

any ways these things apart,

10 suggestions 2 improve ur memory..!!
(y only 10 tips?? coz,i don remembr the other !! )

1. First realize and become aware of how important it is to develop the skill of concentration and memory.

2. Do not always trust your memory. Write your ideas, goals and important information down on paper. Anything you need to get accomplished, create a To Do list.

3. Use the formula…Think It, Ink It, Link It and Sink It.

4. Create an affirmation to build memory and concentration. Many people say “I can never remember names” or “I have such a bad memory.” These will only reinforce your belief in having a bad memory. Instead, create a positive affirmation and say “I have an amazing memory and I remember names with ease.” Once you “act as if” you have great concentration and memory, you will have great concentration and memory.

5. The use of your imagination is a key factor in remembering any names, places or things. When remembering, amplify whatever it is you want to remember. Make it bigger, bolder and louder so it impresses upon your memory.

6. Clean up any clutter or messes in your life. Any unresolved business will turn your attention away from what it is you need to remember.

7. Set goals for yourself. Once you set a goal, your mind will automatically accept it into the subconscious and recalling important information will become easier.

8. Listen to others…Look Intent, Stop Talking, Embrace Naturally. This way, you will absorb what others are saying and it will be easier to recall.

9. When remembering, take a deep breath in, exhale and relax. This will allow you to release any tension and resistance, thus enabling you to concentrate without trying.

10. Read books and study how your memory works.

if ne other tip u know, do comment :-)

Top 5 ways to end a friendship

1. Talk about how much you make per month.

This is a tough one. The way it works is simple. People like to have pride in their work. They also like to think that others don’t work as hard as they do. So when you talk to your friend about how you make 20 k  an month to move boxes from point a to point b, and he makes15 k an month to shovel horse manure, it makes the person feel like crap. So keep money to yourself, and that leads to number 2.

2. Never loan money out.
I know that everyone falls on hard times, myself included. The one thing that I know for certain is that if you loan money out, no matter how small, can crumble a friendship if it never gets paid back. That one is from experience.

3. Talk religion.
The fascinating thing about our culture is our diversity. Some believe in God, others believe in karma, some believe nothing. Talk about that, and your on your way toward the exit sign

4. Talk politics.
With the primary elections finally coming to an end, and starting out in the next leg, its really hard not to talk politics. It is very hard to do though. 22 percent of people in the exit polls said that race played a role in their voting. Remember that only half the people tell the truth coming out of those exit polls, so its more like 44 percent. And that leads us to our next topic.

5.Never talk about race.
Again, we are a very diverse people, and that is terrific that we can look beyond ethnic or social boundaries and see people for who they are and not what they are. This is a rough subject because of the fact that there are still people that have a hard time just keeping their thoughts in their own head.

There you have it. If I forgot anything let me know, These are just my own personal top 5. !!

which 1 u wanna have..Desktop vs. Notebook ??

all engineering ppl nowadays fall 2 this confusion...

Desktop vs. Notebook ??

Once a decision has been made to buy a new college computer, the next common question is whether it should be a notebook (also called a laptop) or a desktop style computer.

Mini-tower style
desktop computer
Notebook (laptop)
computer

in the desktop vs. notebook debate..

Each comes with significant advantages and disadvantages, and which is better will depend on the needs and preferences of the student.

Notebook Computer for College - Advantages

- Easy to transport to and from school.Back to School Sweepstakes
- Takes up little dorm space or desk space.
- Can be carried to class or library for note-taking, study, etc.
- If wireless network is available, adding a wireless card provides easy access to college network and Internet in many locations on campus. Newer notebook computers may have built-in wireless networking ability.(there should be one in CIT !! )
- Can be brought home during weekend or holiday visits.
- Can be shipped to manufacturer or taken to dealer for service.

Notebook Computer for College - Disadvantages

- Much more easily stolen, particularly if carried around campus.(beware!!)
- More easily dropped or broken.(peice - peice)
- Somewhat more prone to failure than stationary desktop computers of comparable quality.
- Significantly more expensive for comparable speed and capacity.
- Limited expansion and add-on capabilities.

Desktop Computer for College - Advantages

- Best value: typically, more speed, memory, and storage for a lower price.
- Relatively difficult to steal.
- Lower probability of failure for comparable quality machine vs. notebook.
- Relatively easy to expand or modify as needs change.
- Less costly expansion products such as large hard drives, additional memory, and special purpose cards.
- Flat screen LCD monitors are now reasonably priced, reducing desk space requirements and making storage/shipping easier.

Desktop Computer for College - Disadvantages

- Space-consuming and awkward to move to and from room 2  room.
- Takes up valuable real estate in cramped dorm rooms
- Can't be carried to library or classes(2 show project report or conduct events in college).
- Difficult to move if repair/replacement is needed(waiting for direct bus!!).

This would be a great topic to ask about during campus visits, prospective student days, and early orientation. Also, present students can be queried by e-mail for more input. If most students have notebooks and there is a great deal of collaboration required, a portable computer might be essential. In most campus environments, though, a desktop is the more common choice.

hey want 2 earn while u learn ?? read it once !!

Hi everyone,

ever since i was in CIT,i always thought of doing some earnings(that 2 wen i got my pc),like to save my mess bill,or some more money 2 spend on deepak stores/ jaabi stores/ recharge/ canteen/silver sky n more..!! :-)

Today's issue is about a very important topic that we've never thought before :
home-based business scams and work-at-home scams.

However, before we get going, an important point:

The FBI reports Web fraud claims rose sharply in 2006. In fact, they *tripled* from a year earlier. Not a surprise to Internet ScamBusters readers.

OK. Let's get started...

Top 10 Work At Home and Home Based Business Scams and How to Avoid Them - Part 1

Home-based business and work-at-home opportunity scams rank very high on the list of the top types of Internet fraud.

In this issue, il tel u the Top 10 home-based business/work-at-home scams. We'll give you the straight goods on envelope stuffing, mystery shopping, and other common home-based business "opportunities" you may have seen floating around the Net.

Work-At-Home and Home-Based Business Scams

There are two basic types of scams involved here. Scammers using both types are aiming at folks who want to make money from home, either by:

1. Having you work from home, doing envelope stuffing, craft assembly, or other tasks where you are (supposedly) paid by a company as an employee.

There are certainly some legitimate telecommuting jobs, but work-from-home jobs are often just big scams.

2. "Helping" you start your own home-based business, as a mystery shopper, network marketer, or other businesses where the only money anyone sees is the money the scammer pockets.

Certainly, there are LOTS of legitimate businesses that can help you start your own home business. We'll help you figure out which are real -- and which are just scams.

Our goal with Internet ScamBusters is to save you time, money and heartbreak before you fall for the scams. Remember -- if it sounds too good to be true... *it probably is*.

Why Are These Scams So Successful?

It all comes down to psychology. Besides the "make money fast" dream that many Internet newcomers fall prey to, home-based "opportunities" scammers mooch off the following groups. Perhaps you belong to one or more of them:

1. The Sick, Disabled, or Elderly: If you are elderly, ill, or have a disability, you may have problems landing a traditional job.

2. The Stay-At-Home Mother: Whether you have a spouse or you're single, you may be looking to supplement or create an income while raising children.

3. The Low-Income or No-Income Family: You or your spouse may have just lost your job, and you feel desperate and anxious to find work as the bills pile up.

4. The Person Without Higher Education: You're not stupid or dumb -- you just didn't go on to college or university.

To summarize, these scammers are often preying primarily on the sick, the disabled, the elderly, the unemployed, parents, and people without a lot of money.

The Top 10 Home-Based Business/Work-At-Home Scams

Note: These scams are not ranked by dollars lost or people scammed. In fact, there's nothing scientific about the list. It's just the ten home-based business scams we find the most disturbing.

10. Craft Assembly

This scam encourages you to assemble toys, dolls, or other craft projects at home with the promise of high per-piece rates. All you have to do is pay a fee up-front for the starter kit... which includes instructions and parts.

Sounds good? Well, once you finish assembling your first batch of crafts, you'll be told by the company that they "don't meet our specifications."

In fact, even if you were a robot and did it perfectly, it would be impossible for you to meet their specifications. The scammer company is making money selling the starter kits -- not selling the assembled product. So, you're left with a set of assembled crafts... and no one to sell them to.

9. Medical Billing

In this scam, you pay $300-$900 for everything (supposedly) you need to start your own medical billing service at home. You're promised state-of-the-art medical billing software, as well as a list of potential clients in your area.

What you're not told is that most medical clinics process their own bills, or outsource the processing to firms, not individuals. Your software may not meet their specifications, and often the lists of "potential clients" are outdated or just plain wrong.

As usual, trying to get a refund from the medical billing company is like trying to get blood from a stone.

8. Email Processing

This is a twist on the classic "envelope stuffing scam" (see #1 below). For a low price ($50?) you can become a "highly-paid" email processor working "from the comfort of your own home."

Now... what do you suppose an email processor does? If you have visions of forwarding or editing emails, forget it. What you get for your money are instructions on spamming the same ad you responded to in newsgroups and Web forums!

Think about it -- they offer to pay you $25 per email processed -- would any legitimate company pay that?

7. "A List of Companies Looking for Homeworkers!"

In this one, you pay a small fee for a list of companies looking for homeworkers just like you.

The only problem is that the list is usually a generic list of companies, companies that don't take homeworkers, or companies that may have accepted homeworkers long, long ago. Don't expect to get your money back with this one.

6. "Just Call This 1-900 Number For More Information..."

No need to spend too much time (or money) on this one. 1-900 numbers cost money to call, and that's how the scammers make their profit.

Save your money -- don't call a 1-900 number for more information about a supposed work-at-home job.

5. Typing At Home

If you use the Internet a lot, then odds are that you're probably a good typist. How better to capitalize on it than making money by typing at home?

Here's how it works: After sending the fee to the scammer for "more information," you receive a disk and printed information that tells you to place home typist ads and sell copies of the disk to the suckers who reply to you. Like #8, this scam tries to turn you into a scammer!

4. "Turn Your Computer Into a Money-Making Machine!"

Well, this one's at least half-true. To be completely true, it should read: "Turn your computer into a money-making machine... for spammers!"

This is much the same spam as #5, above. Once you pay your money, you'll be sent instructions on how to place ads and pull in suckers to "turn their computers into money-making machines."

3. Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)

If you've heard of network marketing (like Amway), then you know that there are legitimate MLM businesses based on agents selling products or services.

One big problem with MLMs, though, is when the pyramid and the ladder-climbing become more important than selling the actual product or service.

If the MLM business opportunity is all about finding new recruits rather than selling products or services, beware: The Federal Trade Commission may consider it to be a pyramid scheme... and not only can you lose all your money, but you can be charged with fraud, too!

We saw an interesting MLM scam recently: one MLM company advertised the product they were selling as FREE. The fine print, however, states that it is "free in the sense that you could be earning commissions and bonuses in excess of the cost of your monthly purchase of" the product. Does that sound like free to you?

2. Chain Letters/Emails ("Make Money Fast")

If you've been on the Internet for any length of time, you've probably received or at least seen these chain emails. They promise that all you have to do is send the email along plus some money by mail to the top names on the list, then add your name to the bottom... and one day you'll be a millionaire.

Actually, the only thing you might be one day is prosecuted for fraud. This is a classic pyramid scheme, and most times the names in the chain emails are manipulated to make sure only the people at the top of the list (the true scammers) make any money.

This scam should be called "Lose Money Fast" -- and it's illegal.

1. Envelope Stuffing

This is THE classic work-at-home scam. It's been around since the U.S. Depression of the 1920s and 1930s, and it's moved onto the Internet like a cockroach you just can't eliminate.

There are several variations, but here's a sample: Much like #5 and #4 above, you are promised to be paid 5 rupees for every envelope you stuff. All you have to do is send money and you're guaranteed "up to 1,000 envelopes a week that you can stuff... with postage and address already affixed!"

When you send your money, you get a short manual with flyer templates you're supposed to put up around town, advertising yet another harebrained work-from-home scheme.

And the pre-addressed, pre-paid envelopes? Well, when people see those flyers, all they have to do is send you 5 rupees in a pre-addressed, pre-paid envelope. Then you stuff that envelope with another flyer and send it to them.

Ingenious perhaps... but certainly illegal and unethical.

so ppl beware of such !!

Wishing you a scam-free schemes!

IT companies ask recruitment agencies to stop hiring !!

The banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) segment is the largest outsourcing vertical for Indian technology players.

The space contributes up to 40% of the revenues for some top IT firms. The industry employs around 3,50,000 people in the BFSI space of which the top six players alone account for 180,000 jobs. The domain accounted for $10 billion of the total $32 billion revenues the industry posted during the last fiscal.

Combine these facts with the crisis in Wall Street, and what we have is a sombre picture of things to come. If market estimates are anything to go by, what’s happening in the global financial markets can result in the loss of as many as 20,000 to 25,000 jobs in India.

That means, the likes of Cognizant, TCS, Infosys, HCL, Wipro and Satyam will announce huge lay-offs over the next couple of quarters.

“The mid-year appraisal expected in October-November will be extremely crucial. Many companies may announce large-scale job cuts,” said an HR professional at a leading IT firm, who did not want to be named. Avinash Vashistha, managing director of offshore investment advisory firm Tholons, says, tech providers have been seeing sluggish or no growth in the BFSI vertical in the last 12 months.

"The impact is big as the space has been the pioneer and largest adopter of technology,” he said.

Rajiv Mehrotra, country GM of hiring firm Kelly Services India, says many companies have already asked recruitment firms to stop hiring in the last 24 hours.

There are also fears that if the situation prolongs for six to nine months, other verticals will begin to be hit. “Even the manufacturing sector will feel the pinch,” said Naresh Malhan , MD of talent management firm Manpower India.

The direct effect of the demise of Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch is already being felt in the Indian job market. The nearly 2,500 employees of Lehman Brothers’ captives in Mumbai have been asked to look out for jobs. A firm that supplied temporary staff to the Mumbai office of Lehman said it had laid off 150 of their people.

This is expected to have a ripple effect. “For the moment, the industry has to take this as a bitter pill. More clarity will emerge only later,” said Manish Sabharwal, chairman of staffing firm Team Lease.

how good is IT ??

After Wipro showing the door to 1,000 employees and news about TCS planning another round of layoffs, it seems it’s pink slips time at Satyam Computers.

Hyderabad-based company has reportedly given pink slips to some 6000 engineers and associates at its Hyderabad, Pune and Visakhapatnam centres. According to earlier reports, the company has sacked 1950 experienced employees from the Hyderabad centre who were on bench. The report says that most of those sacked are in the ‘S’ band, indicating that they had at least two to five years of experience. Terming it as a routine exercise, company’s global head, HR, SV Krishnan said, “Giving pink slips to those in the ‘S’ band was not out of the ordinary and we do this as a matter of employee evaluation and development.” The company has reportedly also sent out a mail cautioning employees against not turning up at office and preferring to remain on the bench. Also, the company’s management has asked some employees to either voluntarily switch to a contractual agreement (moving from pay rolls) or leave.

hello all,

just have a read u'l feel de spark !!

Long but worth reading……….

Keep the Spark
Inaugural Speech for the new batch at the Symbiosis BBA program 2008 (c)

Chetan Bhagat - Inaugural Speech

Good Morning everyone and thank you for giving me this chance to speak
to you.

This day is about you. You, who have come to this college, leaving the
comfort of your homes (or in some cases discomfort), to become something
in your life. I am sure you are excited. There are few days in human
life when one is truly elated.  The first day in college is one of them.
When you were getting ready today, you felt a tingling in your stomach.
What would the auditorium be like, what would the teachers be like, who
are my new classmates - there is so much to be curious about. I call
this excitement, the spark within you that makes you feel truly alive
today. Today I am going to talk about keeping the spark shining. Or to
put it another way, how to be happy most, if not all the time. Where do
these sparks start? I think we are born with them. My 3-year old twin
boys  have a million sparks. A little Spiderman toy can make them jump
on the bed. They get thrills from creaky swings in the park. A story
from daddy gets them excited. They do a daily countdown for birthday
party - several months in advance - just for the day they will cut their
own birthday cake. I see students like you, and I still see some sparks.
But when  I see older people,  the spark is difficult to find. That
means as we age, the spark fades. People whose spark has faded too much
are dull, dejected, aimless and bitter. Remember Kareena in the first
half of Jab We Met vs the second half? That is what happens when the
spark is lost.

So how to save the spark?

Imagine the spark to be a lamp's flame. The first aspect is nurturing -
to give your spark the fuel, continuously. The second is to guard
against storms. To nurture, always have goals. It is human nature to
strive, improve and achieve full potential. In fact, that is success. It
is what is possible for you. It isn't any external measure - a certain
cost to company pay package, a particular car or house.

Most of us are from middle class families. To us, having material
landmarks is success and rightly so. When you have grown up where money
constraints force everyday choices, financial freedom is a big
achievement. But it isn't the purpose of life. If that was the case, Mr
Ambani would not show up for work. Shah Rukh Khan would stay at home and
not dance anymore. Steve Jobs won't be working hard to make a better
iPhone, as he sold Pixar for billions of dollars already. Why do they do
it? What makes them come to work everyday? They do it because it makes
them happy. They do it because it makes them feel alive. Just getting
better from current levels feels good. If you study hard, you can
improve your rank. If you make an effort to  interact with people, you
will do better in interviews. If you practice, your cricket will get
better. You may also know that you cannot become Tendulkar, yet. But you
can get to the next level. Striving for that next level is important.
Nature designed  with a random set of genes and circumstances in which
we were born. To be happy, we have to accept it and make the most of
nature's design. Are you? Goals will help you do that.

I must add, don't just have career or academic goals. Set goals to give
you a balanced, successful life. I use the word balanced before
successful. Balanced means ensuring your health, relationships, mental
peace are all in good order. There is no point of getting a promotion on
the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back
hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.

You must have read some quotes -  Life is a  tough race, it is a
marathon or whatever. No, from what I have seen so far, life is one of
those races in nursery school. Where you have to run with a marble in a
spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming
first. Same with life, where health and relationships are the marble.
Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else,
you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being
excited and alive, will start to die.

One last thing about nurturing the spark - don't take life seriously.
One of my yoga teachers used to make students laugh during classes. One
student asked him if these jokes would take away something from the yoga
practice. The teacher said  - don't be serious, be sincere. This quote
has defined my work ever since. Whether its my writing, my job, my
relationships or any of my goals. I get thousands of opinions on my
writing everyday. There is heaps of praise, there is intense criticism.
If I take it all seriously, how will I write? Or rather, how will I
live? Life is not to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary
here. We are like a pre-paid card with limited validity. If we are
lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500
weekends. Do we really need to get so worked up? It's ok, bunk a few
classes, goof up a few interviews, fall in love. We are people, not
programmed devices.

I've told you three things - reasonable goals, balance and not taking
it too seriously that will nurture the spark. However, there are four
storms in life that will threaten to completely put out the flame. These
must be guarded against. These are disappointment, frustration,
unfairness and loneliness of purpose.

Disappointment will come when your effort does not give you the expected
return. If things don't go as planned or if you face failure. Failure is
extremely difficult to handle, but those that do come out stronger. What
did this failure teach me? is the question you will need to ask. You
will feel miserable. You will want to quit, like I wanted to when nine
publishers rejected my first book. Some IITians kill themselves over low
grades - how silly is that? But that is how much failure can hurt you.
But it's life. If challenges could always be overcome, they would cease
to be a challenge. And remember - if you are failing at something, that
means you are at your limit or potential. And that's where you want to
be.

Disappointment's cousin is  frustration, the second storm.  Have you
ever been frustrated? It happens when things are stuck. This is
especially relevant in India. >From traffic jams to getting that job you
deserve, sometimes things take so long that you don't know if you chose
the right goal. After books, I set the goal of writing for Bollywood, as
I thought they needed writers. I am called extremely lucky, but it took
me five years to get close to  a release.

Frustration saps excitement, and turns your initial energy into
something negative, making you a bitter person. How did I deal with it?
A realistic assessment of the time involved - movies take a long time to
make even though they are watched quickly, seeking a certain enjoyment
in the process rather than the end result - at least I was learning how
to write scripts ,having a side plan - I had my third book to write and
even something as simple as pleasurable distractions in your life  -
friends, food, travel  can help you overcome it. Remember, nothing is to
be taken seriously. Frustration is a sign somewhere, you took it too
seriously.

Unfairness - this is hardest to deal with, but unfortunately that is how
our country works. People with connections, rich dads, beautiful faces,
pedigree find it easier to make it - not just in Bollywood, but
everywhere. And sometimes it is just plain luck. There are so few
opportunities in India, so many stars need to be aligned for you to make
it happen. Merit  and hard work is not always linked to achievement in
the short term, but the long term correlation is high, and ultimately
things do work out. But realize, there will be some people luckier than
you.

In fact, to have an opportunity to go to college and understand this
speech in English means you are pretty darn lucky by Indian standards.
Let's be grateful for what we have and get the strength to accept what
we don't. I have so much love from my readers that other writers cannot
even imagine it. However, I don't get literary praise. It's ok. I
don't
look like Aishwarya Rai, but I have two boys who I think are more
beautiful than her. It's ok. Don't let unfairness kill your spark.

Finally, the last point that can kill your spark is isolation. As you
grow older you will realize you are unique. When you are little, all
kids want Ice cream and Spiderman. As you grow older to college, you
still are a lot like your friends. But ten years later and you realize
you are unique.

What you want, what you believe in, what makes you feel, may be
different from even the people closest to you. This can create conflict
as your goals may not match with others. . And you may drop some of
them. Basketball captains in college invariably stop playing basketball
by the time they have their second child. They give up something that
meant so much to them. They do it for their family. But in doing that,
the spark dies. Never, ever make that compromise. Love yourself first,
and then others. There you go. I've told you the four thunderstorms -
disappointment, frustration, unfairness and isolation. You cannot avoid
them, as like the monsoon they will come into your life at regular
intervals. You just need to keep the raincoat handy to not let the spark
die.

I welcome you again to the most wonderful  years of your life. If
someone gave me the choice to go back in time, I will surely choose
college. But I also hope that ten years later as well, you eyes will
shine the same way  as they do today. That you will Keep the Spark
alive, not only through college, but through the next 2,500 weekends.
And I hope not just you, but my whole country will keep that spark
alive, as we really need it now more than any moment in history. And
there is something cool about saying - I come from the land of a billion
sparks.
